French Carabiner Brigade command

Post by Scruff » Thu Dec 08, 2011 1:46 am

Just finished the 2 regiments of Carabiners and was wondering if anyone knew what uniform details their brigade (if that's his title) commander wore.

I suspect he wears a Carabiner uniform but wanted to check the heads with greater knowledge ;)

Bonus point, did he ride a black horse like the rest of the brigade?

many thanks,

Cheers

Thank you,

The guy in Ben's 2nd pic looks like he would do as a commander, I wonder how I could make a sash to make him look a little different, it will give me something to mess around with this afternoon.

Scruff, it depends.

If you look at the Osprey Napoleon's Commanders (2), Plate H2 shows General Louis Chouard (commanding a brigade made up of 4 squadrons of the 2nd Carabiniers for the 1812 campaign) in a coat the same color as the regulation general de brigade but cut like the habit of the Carabiniers. He also wears the bronzed cuirass and helmet of the Carabiniers, black fur pistol holsters, and a red saddle blanket edged gold.

French generals wore whatever suited them, so you have a range of options to use - from wearing the same as the Carabiniers, to a regulation uniform for a General de Brigade.
With Gen'l Custer Down in Mexico: Yes, one of the goals is to see how many times one can get him killed.

Sounds like Front Rank's FNP9, General Chouard which can be seen at:

I'd thought so. The brigadier will look like he belongs, but still stand out.
