Gents
Have been making progress with my first batch of Brits and looking for advice on colours of shako covers for troops in campaign dress. Know can do them black but what over colours would be realistic?
Will upload some photos soon but you can see progress on my blog

They where oil cloth I believe & that tended to be black & a little shiny so I would either do them either dark grey if new or burnt umber if old as blacks and greys often brown a little with age and weather.
If you like ink washes which I do I would suggest a base of dark grey lightly highlighted with a dark mid grey & over washed with a brown ink wash done from a white primer you should have all your shading done for you.

Hi Gents
Photos of the first 8 Brit inf of my first Bn will follow .
Could anyone recommend the vajello paints to use for the jacket of the drummer. Know it is a yellowish colour but not sure what to use.

The yellow should be the same as the yellow you have used for the cuffs and facings (and the regimental colour) effectively the drummer of this period is in reverse colours.
