As an alternative to mainstream Napoleonics I have started a new project in 28mm, South American Wars of Liberation, starting with the Army of the Andes led by San martin. The first target is to be in a position to fight Chacabuco then add to the armies and follow San martin's battles in South America. All figures from the Parkfield Miniatures range covering this conflict

First up we have the Cacadores de Los Andes

Their opponents include the Royalist Burgos Regiment, wearing their summer uniform

I have been idle far too long so thought I'd pop back with a couple of pictures of the gauchos for South America

Lovely looking units, it's an interesting period, all the fun of Napoleonics but on a smaller scale. How do you find Parkfield miniatures?, I have looked but never bought any, be glad of your advice.

I've bought stuff from them - not huge amounts, but bits and pieces over the years (including some S American figures) - and they are very friendly and very reasonably priced. Simon (Lee, I think) will also consider making specific stuff to add to an existing range, if you want.

Thanks for that, certainly going to get into this period and Parkfield will the way to go.

And the advantage is that you can fight a historical battle as they were generally quite small.

I also stock John Fletchers books in the UK
