You would not believe if I told you that I see this from a complete different direction

We STAYED with Napoleon as the only country of the Rheinbund until the bitter end (we didnt have a chance with all the frenchmen in our country) while other recently crowned Monarchs decided to to put their money were their .... is and changed sides. The funny thing that nobody says anything about Wurttemberg, Baden, Westphalia and Bavaria when changing sides at the same battle but the Saxons are the untrustworthy bad guys....

In all honesty... I think those were trying times and given that fact that nearly all the much bigger nations went to bed with Napoleon means that no one should blame the smaller ones.

I can not speak for Wurttemberg, Baden or Westphalia, but from my memory Bavaria changed sides a couple of days earlier. So to speak... If you are one of the last ones, you are likely to draw the short straw!

You may be right about the Bavarians. But unknown to most of those who blamed Saxony for staying with Napoleon is the threat that Napoleon pronounced to the King of Saxony. He threatend Friedrich August with burning Dresden to the Ground and to be relentless against the population of Saxony if he dont come back from Prague to Saxony immediatly.
So, no choice at all but to stay until the end... the short straw!
