Wow,that looks great!
I'm a bit old school,if I have to pay for it I want something solid in my hands-and I want it :D
So I think option 4 is a good idea-count me in!

Just joined, new to the period, would be a new project but I also go for option four (I like books!).

Fantastic looking stuff.

I would also prefer a book as opposed to a PDF, for two reasons:

I would prefer a professional look.

I would also want to protect the amount of work that you have put into this. You would like to think that people will do the right thing, but sadly, it is not the case.

Treat people like they are honest, and protect yourself like they are not.

Option 4. We'd definitely buy a few sets. We've enjoyed playing ULB very much on a large number of occasions.

I agree with Clarence, the better view we have of what everyone wants the easier it will be to make the decision. I am just wary of a big print run. A contact of mine who knows about these things told me that a print run of about 2000 copies weighs in at just under 1 tonne!!! and that it is likely to come in about 60 cardboard boxes. I already live in the attic with my minis can you imagine what Mrs H would say...

Build a house for yourself and your wee lead pals out of the boxes you t**t!

I'd like option 4.

I am reluctant to buy PDFs, or similarily download full games by digital purchase, because both are somewhat incorporial. It feels like buying a licence rather than an object, I know its the other way arround.
Of course I can print out a PDF, but you need a pretty good printer to get decent results, and I don't have one. Even if nicely printed, a staple in the corner aint going to be too impressive.
In a way a PDF feels like getting something half finished, I am more than happy to pay a bit more to get a nicely produced set in my hand. By the ammount of work that looks to be going into this set, a nice glossy printing is needed to do it justice. The idea of it being pirated must be a big concern too.

All that said I can imagine the risk and logistics of a printed version would be daunting.

I'm really looking forward to it regardless of what way its done!

Barry, to give you better idea of how many copies you need, why don't you try contacting other publishers in the industry and fine out how many copies are generally sold on a first run? Caliver spring to mind. This way you don't get lumbered with lots of unsold copies.
BTW did you get my email?

I also prefer a hardcopy of a rule set. And I would be happy to subscribe should you select Option #4.

That being said, a PDF version is also acceptible -- although I prefer a hard copy. One problem with a PDF version is that I believe that the standard page length of paper differs between the U.K. and North America (I'm in Canada).

The North American standard is 8 1/2" x 11" (216mm x 279mm), while I believe that the U.K. A4 standard is 210mm x 297mm. Thus the A4 page is longer and slightly narrower than the North American page.

This is no problem with a printed copy, but would, I suspect, cause some format problems in a PDF version.

Thus I too vote for a printed version if it is economically feasible.

Clarence,

My guess is that it rhymes with "wit".

er not actually North American and Canadian fellows

It is a rather unwholesome (but very funny and popular) word, much used here in the old country  to describe a part of the female anotomy but is fully interchangeable and can be used to describe a fool, one of meagre intelligence, an annoying person etc etc

It happens to rhyme with BAT! 8)
