The info of the link page on the OOB Blenheim comes probably from Hare and Wijn, who based it on Bavarian and Austrian archive research, Eugenes memoires and the European Mercurius.
It's a nice page by the thewaroffice, but I wouldn't call the Pallandt Brigade a "Mercenary" brigade.

I'll see what I can find on Wilken and St Paul

On Dr Jamel Ostwald's blog there's the english summary of van Nimwegen's thesis II think Univeristy of Amsterdam) on Logistics in the WSS:

http://jostwald.wordpress.com/2012/04/1 ... #more-1278

The books I mentioned before are in dutch. This book is published by the Bataafse Leeuw, it's still available on books sites like Abebooks for around 25 euro's. Van Nimwegen's book on William III' 's army is also available second hand, but it's in dutch, I understand that the english translation is quite expensive to some. If you want to contact him directly, PM me for his email adress.

A lot of info on logistics, coaltions and armies, also can be found in Dr J. Stapleton's thesis on William III:
http://earlymodernengland.com/2012/01/f ... 1688-1697/

(This book is still available online, use a google search)

The books series " Het Staatsche leger" Vol VIII is still under copyright and not available online as far as I know.

I've heard the Olaf van Nimwegen is helping out some with the new Robert Hall book on the Dutch army.
Tell me more!! :o :D

Is this likely to be similar to the previously published uniform books by Robert Hall & others?

Cheers, Rohan.

I hear that it will be in 2 volumes and we might see one of them before this year is out. I'm hopeful.

Ray,

What can I say save to echo the above comments. These are just stunning. Looking forward to the Bloody Artillery (if you'll pardon the pun).

Regards,

Jim

My painter Paul has done some fantasic work for me over the past few years. Ray.
What's with the petulant comment?
I haven't noticed anyone make any derogatory comments about Paul's painting infact all the comments I have seen about his work has been very complimentary.

Can't say I've noticed any personal attacks against you but I assume you are talking about the threads on Marlborough's trumpeter and the Glorious Revolution? Because someone disagrees with you on history or sources doesn't make it a personal attack, or is that how you see it when people have a different opinion to your own? This forum has always been good natured and everyone is free to voice their own opinion and disagree with anyone elses views as long as it is put in a gentlemanly fashion. The only personal attacks on this forum have mostly been me slagging that Weegie scroat Hilton.

Hi Ray,

Couple of questions regarding Hays Dragoons. Firstly, why are they referred to as Hays Dragoons? And secondly were they not the 4th Dragoons at the time of Blenheim??

Would be interested to know the sources that you're using

Cheers

Gerry
You may call it sarcasm........I, on the other hand, prefer to refer to it as a humorous observation!!! :-)
