Hi Ray,

Thanks for the advice.

I'm actually building a 15mm FoG R Anglo-Dutch Army using the Dixon Marlburian Range. They do have tricorns, but I'm using them as a late'ish NYW army - and obviouslythese regiments are trend setters in their fashion!

I'm currently having the following units painted: -
- English Foot Guards
- Coldstream Guards
- Dutch Guards
- Nassau Friesland Regiment
- Brandenburg Regeiment
- Royal Scots
- English Prince Geore of Denmarks' regiment
- Danish Converged Grenadiers
- Fynsk Regiment
- Swedish Bielke Regiment
- Swedish Lowenhaupt Regiment
- Eppinger's Dragoons
- Ross' Dragoons
- English & Dutch Life Guards
- English & Dutch Horse Guards
- English, Dutch & Danish Artillery

I'll post some pictures when they are completed!

Best,

Mark

Hello Mark and Ray

Did any Swedish Regiments served in the early parts of the WSS in Confederate pay?

Looks like a interesting army Mark, good luck.

cheers

Hello Gentlemen,
There were some Swedish regiments in the Dutch army as subsidery troops doing this period. If I recall correctly, by the time of the WSS there was only one regiment still with the Dutch army but during the LOA period, there were more,
Best wishes,
Simon

Ray,
When Charles XII came to the throne in 1697 the Swedish regiments in Dutch service as subsidy troops returned to Sweden but a single regiment was retained by the Dutch. The men for this were drawn from all the other units and it was led by Bengt graf von Oxenstierna. This regiment became part of the Dutch army and remained in service throughout the WSS. No details of its uniform are known but they probably wore blue coats. This information came from the Sapherson book on the Dutch army of William III,
Best wishes,
Simon

Just as a matter of interest, would you like to name this one Swedish regiment in Dutch pay during the WSS :?:
To my knowledge they were too busy at war with the Russians.

Cheers,

Ray.

Count Bengt of Oxenstierna was regimental commander of left over Swedish troops. This regiment was considered a national dutch regiment though, and was founded in 1691.

The regiment fought at Luik/Liege 1702, the Dyle 1705, Ramilliies 1706, Oudenaarde, and Malplaquet, where Oxenstierna was killed in action.

Hi Guys,

This is the source I used for the Swedish regiments in Dutch service during the NYW.

They are the last few regiments right at the bottom.
