I too am looking very forward to R2E (I just finished painting my third 36-man French line battalion and ordered the fourth). I'm scribbling ideas for illos already, but there are no concrete plans for organized work yet. I think the R2E manuscript is much farther along than BLB when we started on that, but I won't make any predictions. Let us bask in the glory of BLB for a wee bit. :D
Hi Clarence

Believe it or not I do understand. All your (and that other bit player guy's  ) efforts are much appreciated. I apologise for the somewhat childish enthusiasm ... and the queries that are bound to reveal themselves in the future!

Well done that man ... and his offsider!

Here i am Barry!

I've not been concentrating on the release of the rules lately, my main miniatures interest (my 6 month old son) is taking up my time a little.

However i have ordered a set and am waiting (im)patiently for my copy to arrive.

I'd just like this opportunity to remind Andy to stop messing about with unimportant history and start painting some real units. He's at least twenty five battalions behaind............. :?

Now, hurry up with my copy as Little Jimmigoggles needs some new bed time stories and colourful pages to look at!!! :D

I am very much looking forward to the book, there is a serious lack of good quality reading matter on this period. Lovely artwork and photographs will be a joy to pore over again and again. It might even stop me from gaming!

Congratulations in advance to you and Clarence on what is no doubt going to be a major event for this skirmish and dodgy period loaded hobby of ours.

Now, have i really got to re base all of those units?............

Dean

Got my rules through the post and am well pleased - an excellent effort. Even found some of my figures featured ( the standard bearers leading the clans at Killiecrankie). From the display at the Perth museum if I am not mistaken.

Got me set today and felt re-inspired. Honoured that the Teesside triumvarite got a mention and it certainly took me back to our demo games of Killiecrankie and the Boyne over 10 years ago or was 20??

The figures are all gone but I have started again and look forward to some GNW action in the near future followed by a journey back into the Highlands.

Good luck with the venture, good gaming and hope to catch up soon
:P

I noticed my credit after I posted. I do not mind being the unknown wargamer provided you don't bury me and only visit on remembrance day!!!

Mine arrived in the post yesterday, it was waiting for me when I got home. Well laid out and easy to read, the colour pictures really inspire and now I really must get some more figures painted. I love the scenarios in the back, a nice touch to include a small scenario so that people can play with minimum units on the table to start.

I also liked the colour laminated reference sheet, something you don't see nowadays.

Well done Barry, if this doesn't inspire people to take up this period I don't know what will.

Thanks

Simon

Yes Barry, as soon as I can find time.

By the way I would like to add a brief review of the rules on my blog, may I use the picture of the front cover as part of it?

Thanks for autographing my copy, I am sure it will be a collectors item at some time in the future :D

Received my copy today - it was waiting for me at work after a brief holiday.
A superb publication. High production values - it is a model of how to do a set of rules. Many others - even popular sets - look frankly dismal alongside it. If you want to explain formations, basing and the look of a game, there is nothing like pictures. well done.
