I'm asking about the unit flick40 posted w/pic, on page 2 of the thread. I believe this is what he called them.

I found this picture of French Dragoons. I think the one in the green uniform is from Regt Firmacon. I am thinking that may be a future dragoon unit that I would like to raise. - Bob R.

Fimarcon did have light/medium green coats lined buff in the late 1670's and 1680's, later switching to green lined green. D'Asfeld (Hautefort from 1696) was another green-coated French dragoon regiments : its uniform was medium/dark green with red facings, and gold buttonhole lace is mentioned at a 1698 review.

Both of the pictures come form the "Wars of Louis Quatorze" blog. The date they were posted was Jan 31, 2009. Just type in "French Draggons" in the search box in the uppper right of the opening page. It should take you there. I find a lot of useful info on his site. - Bob R

The second pic is a scan from a series of Eugene Leliepvre plates published many moons ago by the Hussard du Marais in Paris.

As I happen to have it in my collection, I can scan the full plate on early French dragoons and post it here if anyone's interested and if that does not infringe any copyright (legal advice sought from Barry here : I don't think this would be a problem as this is long out of print material, but I'm not 100% sure).
