Front Rank the war of the Grand Alliance - 1689 to 1697

Post by Darkman » Wed Oct 07, 2009 8:22 pm

Just dropped into the Front Rank Pages and notice that they are going to do a new range
This will go from 1685 to 1700 and will be suitable for the above, the Monmouth Rebellion - 1685 and the Irish Wars - 1689 to 1691.

I feel a dent in the bank account coming on.

Oh I can paint and have painted etc. But my eyes are not what they were. But I will probably do a few. :)

Its all true!

The matter came up in a discussion with the Front Rank team at their stand whilst I took a little time out from the Boyne game at the Worlds in Derby this weekend. They agree that there is a lot of interest in this period.

It clearly is a runner but just when they will be out remains to be seen.

As is my usual gripe I put the case to them that I should like to see a range a little smaller than their WSS figures and more compatable with Foundry, OG and at a touch the larger Dixons. Its a shame that we would have real difficulties fitting the standard size figures in with our existing collection of 300 plus units. I really hope that they can compromise just a little.

Looking forward.

The only problem with making them smaller is that they won't be compatible with the sometimes large collections of front rank figures some foks have, including me.

Another intriguing mitre-been, I suppose.

This might be the sly opportunity for someone to suggest that those 1690's pikemen could - with a teeny, little head change - constitute 1700's Dutch and British pikes.

In the front rank news section from yesterday there is an update that these will be the next release from FR, out at mid-year.

Alec of FR did tell me (and I assume others) at the Derby show last October that he hoped to have some 'greens' to show me at Triples, so lets hope he will as it's only a couple of weeks away.

It would be nice if the range, or even part of it, was ready for May Partizan!
