sparre's hose

Post by footslogger » Tue Apr 05, 2011 12:21 pm

Robert Hall depicts these as black after L&H. That caused me to raise my eyebrows. The regiment was raised originally from Swedes and they return the blue with yellow coat. So I'm trying to determine what color to paint the hose. In this period did the Swedes wear yellow or white hose? I see my choices are black as Hall, or yellow, or white. I did a test figure with white. That would certainly be easiest.

Thoughts?

Swedish infantry had yellow, white, or even red hose. If the cuffs were yellow, the hose were generally yellow or white. Don't know about Sparre, but I would follow Hall in the absence of any other evidence, since it was in French service and may well have been supplied by the French.
