getting it right? uniform details for English Foot in WSS

Post by raggedroyalist » Thu Feb 21, 2013 9:08 am

Hi All,

Im currently painting the Buff's for a gent in Belgium.Circa 1704(ish)
The figures Im painting are mainly the lovely to paint Ebor miniatures that are depicted without gaiters. What colour would thier stockings be? The same buff colour as the facings or white/grey maybe?

Would the 'hat' companies have hat lace?

Would NCO's have hat lace?

What colour would the musket slings be?- leather?

I pressume musket lock and barrel are standard steel and all other fittings would be brass?

many thanks

There's a beautifully painted example in the "Belnheim OOB" thread, I hope Churchill doesn't mind me citing it here;

I'd make the stockings white/grey, and "yes" to the rest of the questions.
