Hi Have OOB of the French but cannot find OOB Savoy and its Allies.
Any help appreciated.

The OOB for the Savoyan army plus Austrians will be a slight problem.

There seems to exist none.

I tried to find out all the participating regiments by searching the regimental histories, but it´s not finished until now.

When I put this battle on at a convention I didn't find OOBs either. I just did some math on the Wiki from the size of the forces. That gave me a ballpark figure of Sqdn/Battalions to build from. Then I researched the armies and battle online to create the units.

The French were outnumbered but did their homework of the battlefield prior to the fight. The duke did not and his flank was turned when the French showed up through a marsh the duke had thought impenetrable. It's a fun fight.

The Austrians didnt participate in the battle, but the Spanish Army of the Duchy of Milan and their German regiments (Württemberg for instance).

Boeri/Mirecki/Palau and others think the complete state troops of Milan to be present at Staffarda.

From what I could deduce from "Histoire Militaire de Piemont", by Comte de Saluces, (to be found on google books), the following Savoyard regiments were present ar Staffarde:

- Guards Regiment (foot)
- Regiment Savoie
- Regiment Montferrat
- Regiment Piemont
- Regiment Seluces
- Regiment du roi Dragons
- Regiment Aoste

Cavalry Company of Gendarmes.
Regiment Cheveaux Legers

I can not conform if the Royal Calary was present at Staffarde.

Probably some more info can be found in Brancassio's "L'esercito del vecchio Piemonte", but I don't have access to this work. Maybe some of the Italian member here can?

A) Genealogia

Reggimento Fucilieri di Sua Altezza Reale (Torino, Vercelli, sedi varie, 1690-1774)
Reggimento di "Aosta" (Alessandria, Torino, sedi varie, 1774-1799)

That means:
In 1690 the later "Aosta" was founded/named as "Fucilieri" (see above), and is found in historical context as such.


B) "Seluces" is Saluzzo.


C) 2 companies of the Royal Cavalry Household (Guardie del Corpo, due compagnie) are mentioned for this very battle


D) and seemingly all 3 dragoon regiments (Dragoni di S.A.R or red dragoons; Dragoni Genovese or green dragoons, Dragoni di Piemonte or Gialli / yellow dragoons) were present, since the Charge of the yellow dragoons is proofed by various sources and is also a popular Piemontese motive.

I apologize for coming late to this party. I asked a friend in Italy, GianCarlo Boeri, if he had any information on the composition of the Savoyard-Spanish Army at Staffarda, and he provided the following:

Cavalry : dragoni dello Stato di Milano, Bavarian Cuirassiers d'Arco, cavalleria dello Stato di Milano, cavalleria straniera (German) dello Stato di Milano, cavalleria napoletana

Savoyard Army at Staffarda 1690 OdB
Infantry : Reggimento Guardie, Piemonte, Savoia, Saluzzo, Mondovì, Croce bianca, Fucilieri
Cavalry : 4 Companies Guardie del Corpo; Dragoni di Sua Altezza Reale (Dragoni rossi); Dragoni del Genevois (Dragoni verdi); Genti d’armi
Artillery – 12 guns

I first met him in Naples (in the Museum) back in the early 1980´s, but unfortunately (and sadly) we lost contact during the years.
