Footslogger: You may be right, after all. Snorrason says that grey an yellow were the colors until 1712. Even if one accepts Skjold Peterson's blue red, that would only necessarily be for the period 1701-04. I don't know who is right. Maybe some who know more on this can chime in?

Snorrason assumes that the coat was grey and yellow until 1712. But his only evidence to that is a uniform regulation from 1691. I do not know exactly where Skjold Peterson got the information about blue uniforms, but his research is mainly based on accounts from the royal armoury.

The first of my Danes has finally made it off the painting tray. It's the figure given out at Antwerp last year, painted to represent an officer of the Livgard tils Fods c.1704. He will eventually feature on a command stand:

Given the debate over grey v blue jackets, I chose a pragmatic blue-grey or is that grey-blue

I may go back and calm down the contrast in skin tones.
