Bavarian regiments 1690s

Post by lee sherman » Wed May 28, 2014 9:11 pm

Anyone know what the grenadier uniforms are for the company grenadiers. I have seen Leib Guards in red coats white cuffs, Lieb guards in same uniforms as the musket companies eg blue with white cuffs and grenadiers were only in the guard and Kurprinz regiments, only thing I see that all agree on is they all have the fur grenadier cap.

Thanks

Hi Lee !

There's a picture from Hoffmann's wonderful collection of Bavarian uniforms:

http://www.corbisimages.com/stock-photo ... er-ca-1700

a Grenadier (1700) from the Regiment "Königin" (White cuffs)

other Regiment had different coloured cuffs, Steinau for instance red

if you need some more help .....

The white cuffs are from Konig Regiment so is that the Foot Guards?. At present I have regimental uniforms for foot Guards blue coats white cuffs stockings...Tattenbach blue coats yellow cuffs white stockings and Kurprinz blue coats blue cuffs white stockings... I also found a regiment in red coats blue breeches and stockings but doesn't say what regiment it is and even if it's a later period.... Also some say regiments have brown colour breeches some say blue breeches for all regiments Not sure if these are accurate?. Do you know all the coat and cuff colours for Bavarian Infantry regiments?

Thanks

Yes thanks that has cleared up the Red Coated grenadiers it is a very good discription of the picture I have. Think there like a foreign guard regiment to the elector abit like Swiss to the French, I can now rule out painting my foot guards grenadier companies in red :-) as it seems to be a seperate regiment al together.

Looking forward to the rest of the info you may find

Thanks
