WSS OOB of Elkisem battle - Colonel Jamart

Post by Jamar » Thu Nov 20, 2014 3:03 pm

Hi,
I'm looking some information regarding the Colonel Jamar (Jamart, Jaymaert...) in the Contingent of Liège who was under Marlborough commandment during the WSS.

Robert Hall book on the Dutch army and the Army of Liege says that the Regiment Jaymaert was engaged at Elixheim (under the Brigadier General Hamilton).
I also know that the uniform plate in that volume is based on the Vinkhuizen collection at the NYPL (but unfortunately I was not able to find that plate online).

Does someone have the Order of Battle for the Allied force during the Eliksem battle ?
Does someone have the plate of the Vinkhuizen collection at the NYPL ? I would like to purchase one directly on the NYPL but cost for research is really expensive, it will be better to provide them with a copy in order to find it quickly.
Does someone knows more about Colonel Jamar participation in the WSS ?

Thanks in advance for any help on that !
Regards
Romain

Hello Romain,

Welcome to the Forum!
A swift search inthe NYPL didnt show me anything like the unit you are searching for. A French source gives a rough OOB of Elixheim,

http://www.drapeaux.org/Ordres_Bataille ... m_1705.htm

In the digital archive of marburg can be found the following OOB
The regiment you are looking for is in the chart in the lower right corner
http://www.digam.net/dokument3b12.html?ID=3752 - (open the pdf)
http://www.digam.net/tmp/digam_3752_1.j ... 52&f=1.jpg

Eventually that is the man who you are searching for?

Hope that helps somehow.

Many thanks for your very interesting answer !

I'm looking for some information regarding Collonel François Renier Jamar (unfortunatly not the same than the one you mentionned) because my ancestor was Capitain in his regiment.
I know that he was named in his regiment for the first time two months before the Eliksem battle. I'm wondering if he was taking part of the battle or not. Do you know if there is any possibilities to find such information ?

In the OOB it is mentionned that Collonel Jamar had 1 batallion. Is there any document indicating who was included on it ?

Do you also know if there is a document or a web site that gives indication regarding the composition of a regiment and the role of each men ?

So many question for you :-)
Thanks in advance for your help !

Thanks Wienand !
Unfortunatly I already saw this document, it provides a lot but not all that I would like. Anyway, I'm happy with that.
