Skeffington`s Foot

Post by Sir Royston Papworth » Sat Mar 28, 2015 9:52 am

Hi All,

I am in the process of painting up Skeffington`s Foot for the campaign in Ireland. Half way through and just about to start the command group and hit the proverbial wall.

So, the two ensigns I'll do in grey, with blue facings as per the OR, happy with that. The two field officers will be in red, to stand out. Happy with that.

Then there I'd the drummer. I could do him in a `normal`uniform of blue and grey, but feel he should be in reversed colours. And that is the problem. Reversed would mean he should have a red coat and blue facings (because of the blue cuffs) but that seems too fancy for a hastily raised grey coated unit. Or would he be in a red coat?

Or am I just over analysing this??

What would others do?

If your other ranks are grey with blue facings, surely 'reversed' would then be blue coat with grey facings?

That's how I did it with my figs...

Yeah, I think that's what I will go with.

The agony was around the fact that blue facings units tend to be royal regiments and would have the royal livery for the drummers. While this is a normal regiment with blue facings....
