According to my trusty Funckens (I know, I know) the King's Regiment and the King's Cuirassier were separate regiments. Both did wear blue coats with red facings for much of their history, as did other royal regiments of horse.

My understanding is that they are distinct regiments, du Roi (as in RĂ©giment du Roi; the King's regiment) was established in the 1630's and the cuirassiers du Roi were formed in the 1660s. I think the blue faced red may be indicative of the King's livery.
Neither is to be confused with the RĂ©giment du Roi of the infantry, which actually when I think of it, may not have worn blue faced red (Gris faced blue I seem to recall)
