Uniforms for Ramillies

Post by Marinergrim » Fri Oct 06, 2017 10:02 am

In d'Artgnan's division at Ramillies were battalions of the Gardes de Cologne & Gardes de Baviere.

Does anyone have any uniform information for these three battalions please?

Hi,

Gardes de Cologne - Bavarian blue coats; red cuffs/lining; white waistcoat and breeches; grey stockings; black neckcloth; yellow buttons and hat lace; cockade white/blue.

Gardes de Baviere (assuming this is merely a French translation of the name) - Bavarian blue coats, waistcoats and breeches; white cuffs, hat lace and button lace; light grey gaiters; neckcloth red.

The reason for the similarity in uniform is that both the archbishop/prince-elector of Cologne and the Duke of Bavaria came from the Wittelsbach family.

If you need more details, you will need to purchase a couple of CDs -

MILITARY UNIFORMS OF THE ELECTORATE OF COLOGNE by Robert Hall, and

THE ARMY OF THE BLUE KING, by Anton Hoffman.
Ssshhhhh!!!!!
