I believe that the Bavarians did the same from 1686, after they gave up the pike.Friedrich August I. wrote: ↑Fri Jan 18, 2019 7:17 amSmall addition to Dan's information's - The Boarspear was not only used by the Saxons but also by the Electorate of Brandenburg (Prussia) for the same reasons - give the Foot Soldiers some protection against Cavalry by building Chevaux de Fris after removing the Pikes.
It was common in the Saxon Army that Officers and Drummer wore the same Uniform as the common Soldier. Only that Officers wore a Sash around the waist and that their Uniforms were rather undecorated. Nothing of those fancy western style Uniforms. Simple and straight.TheRightfulKing2013 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2019 4:15 amIs there any evidence for drummers and officers uniforms? I know there's an artillery officer earlier in the thread but I mean other than that? Thanks in advance.
