Russian front gamed at the club, 20mm scale, more photos in the gallery at http://www.victorian-steel.com/, anybody at the Derby show this weekend ?
Myself and Dave Tuck will be running the "Battle of Beersheba 1917" rules used will be the basic and allow only 30 mins for a game, photos of Beersheba are on the web site in the gallery and the table has been extended for effect on a long cavalry charge, being bombed by artillery guns and trying to get under the range and take those Turks in the trenches.
The Leningrad Front was first formed on August 27, 1941, by dividing the Northern Front into the Leningrad Front and Karelian Front, during the German approach on Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg).

The front was immediately given the task of containing the German drive towards Leningrad, and to defend it from the approaching Army Group North. By September 1941, German forces to the south were effectively stopped on the outskirts of Leningrad, initiating the two and a half year long Siege of Leningrad.

Although Finnish forces to the north stopped at the old Finnish-Soviet border, the Leningrad front suffered severe losses in the ensuing Continuation War. From September 8, soldiers of the front were forced to conduct operations under the conditions of a blockade, with very little supply. Some supplies did reach the city however via the lake Road of Life.
