15th/16th June 2013 Vietnam

Vietnaaaahm! Dave O'Brien and Peter Nicholson - ripped off sleeves, torn down shorts, the shades, the headbands. OK, I've gone too far. Peter could use a headband right now but Dave, what would you do with yours? No suggestions thanks.

I seem to remember in the last Vietnam game that my elite rangers died as they leapt from choppers onto the citadel roof - most before their feet even hit the deck. However one of them survived and went to ground. He's still there yet, and he's waiting......

Happy to organise another Vietnam weekend for next June. We did have some later discussion on the best weekend given Adrian's date conflict. The proposed dates of 15/16th could also be a problem for Andy who has grandchildren with birthdays and parties at that time. I am happy to go earlier in the month (say 1/2nd June 2013) if that suits everyone better and the hall is available.

Gentlemen, To clarify the situation about the hall, regular users of the hall have priority and I'm not happy to try to bump anyone else out. The first, second and last weekends of the month are not available and by coincidence I'm usually not available then either. The most regularly available weekend is the third weekend of the month and that is what has been booked for 2013.

However, if the consensus is that we need other dates then we'll need to look for other venues. I doubt that we'll find another in Kirriemuir at the rate we have at the moment and we will have to sacrifice the convenience of table availability and the use of KWC boards within the hall. It is useful to have everything at our fingertips but it's not the be all and end all.

Could we consider making decisions about future dates/venues/game themes during the day when everyone is there. The pub in the evening is great for chat and chewing over possibles but it does cut out those who are not there for various reasons. This time that meant Peter, Steve, Andy and me. I've no problem with any of the themes but we should be trying to be inclusive where we can.

Thanks Dale. Kirriemuir is obviously the best venue for us given its location which is pretty equidistant for most of us, the guide hall venue and availability of tables and Bob's boards and the low cost and wide access we get. If the third weekend of each month is the only possible available date then that's what it will have to be. It just means we may miss having a couple of regulars.

Thanks for clarifying

Dale (Gents)

I was responsible for starting the 'date debate' - and I'm sorry to Dale (and you other Gents) if I've caused a 'ruffle'... it was not intended.

I had picked up a 'vibe' from Peter and Andy, that a 'move' of a week later would suit them better, and I also echoed the same in the pub later.

I innocently thought that i would discuss it with Dale, who explained the situation to me...and so thats where I left it.

I heartedly agree that Kirrie is the ultimate option/location and if no move of date is possible - no problem.

Sorry for any concern caused.

Are we assembling in the Guide Halls at 7.00pm? Dave/Peter, if I get along earlier what do you want out in terms of tables and boards.
Now, where did I put my boonie hat?

Dale, we are expecting to be there just after 7pm but if you arrive early we only need three 4x4 tables, two 6x4 tables and one 8x4 which covers the six scenarios I've worked out for the Saturday games and the terrain won't take too long to set up. I'm not sure if Peter has finalised the full dimensions of his game for the Sunday.
Cheers

Dale, I'm obviously talking rubbish and can't count

I've come up with 7 scenarios so we need,

two 4x4 tables

four 6x4 tables

one 8x4 table

We probably won't be able to set up the Sunday table until we have finished using this lot.

Clearly I've gone off my head  , no comment from you Hilton

Finally I've come up with 6 scenarios and triple checked this so we need,

two 4x4 tables

three 6x4 tables

one 8x4 table

Hope I've not made you all as confused as I've managed to make myself.
Cheers

Perish the thought that only Barry would think that you're off your head Dave, :D :D so I'll get in first........

I take it your abacus wasn't working then??......or has the recent nice weather given you sunstroke and made you end up all sixes and sevens????

:D :D :D

Guys, a few requests for our game this weekend. I appreciate most of you don't have any toys for this period but don't worry we have the figures and vehicle needs covered. What we do need is
1) Jungle and loads of it
2) Bridges - if any of you have bridges suitable for jungle traffic or those Airfix pontoon bridges could you bring them please
3) Rivercraft - small river vessels including Sampans. We have enough of the large Vietnam monitors and Armoured Troop carriers but are light on the smaller vessels.
4) other terrain items - ruined jungle temples, Buddha statues etc. We will have a lot of terrain tiles to cover particularly for the large Sunday game.

We will be using Bolt Action rules so if you have a copy you may want to bring it.

Hi guys, hope everyone enjoyed our NAM weekend. I think it looked spectacular and the Bolt Action rules with Bill's modifications for boats and choppers worked well.

Thanks to everyone who contributed and took part in the weekends gaming, particularly Dave and Colin for the Saturday scenarios.

I have been unpacking my figures and terrain from the weekend and found a few stowaways. I have 13 US Infantry , mounted on pennies which I don't think are mine. Anyone care to claim them?
