Game "Events"

Post by Redmist1122 » Wed Oct 03, 2012 4:30 am

Just wondering if anyone uses the "events" on a regular basis. I've used them twice, once from each version of BLB in the last three years of playing BLB. Reason I ask, is the events are pretty cool in a game, but I forget to use them on a regular basis, as I don't like thumbing through a rule book during play.
With that being said, Barry have you though about prodcing the "events" on a deck of cards for sale? I would buy a deck. And, would use them more often.

Thoughts?

My God Greg, in the 17th Century you would have been burned at the stake. I have just completed producing a 60 card deck which is NOT a version of the events in the book but a completely new set of game related cards. They are being trialled at the BLB weekender next weekend in Derby. The idea is not new for me as I already produced it for use with TMoE and Disposable Heroes. If all runs well the cards will be available in a basic 20 card deck shortly with 2 supplementary 20 card decks also available. The are currently 'uni -side' and - closely to gaming mechanisms.

I am also trialing new Brigade Roster sheets with ' specialized unit descriptions, modifiers and conditions' to add further period flavour.

It's going to be a big weekend with 18 attendees, a 24 x 12 table and about 100 battalions and 100 squadrons.

We have visitors from Austria and the US as well as Scotland and England. I hope Wargames Illustrated will also show up on the Sunday.

So mucho pix etc to follow. 2013 is going to be a big year for Warfare and BLB I can assure you 8)

Barry,
What are the chances of me getting a copy of the cards template to try out as well?

Thanks.

Barry, will your cards come wrapped with chewing gum? Or in random packs of commons, uncommons etc?

Jim, that made me smile as strangely enough today whilst sitting waiting on my flight to Riyadh and idly gazing out the window at all the tail liveries going by I remembered a particularly favourite set of 'bubble gum stickers I used to collect avidly: Airlines of the world, pictures of planes, livery, crew uniforms etc. I would have been in the late 60s early 70s.. my God I loved that sticker book! I sat and wondered what I'd done with it... must go rummaginf in my Mum's loft to see if it is still there. Anyway... anyone for BLB GUM

My favourite set of chewing gum cards was the American Civil War set that came with illustrated cards and replica Confederate money and second to that was the Mars Attack set of cards. Oh happy teeth rotting days.
Cheers
