Resurrection of 1 day gaming

Post by barr7430 » Mon Jun 03, 2013 9:00 am

As our Canon (pun intended 8) ) of gaming options continues to expand we have been discussing whether to resurrect the one day gaming option.

Format 0900 till around 1900. Scenario can be finished in that time period. Same number of players as 2 day game ie up to 8 per side.

There has been some demand for a run out of the following in the 1 day format:

ACW Rally to the Colors! as play tested by several groups and as demoed at SALUTE 2013

Republic to Empire

We have seen a possible venue in Dumfries but are also exploring a English venue and one in Lanarkshire.

Let us know what the thinking is out there folks

thanks

B

I'd love to come......but being based in the NE of Scotland it's a bit of a long drive and an early start for a day.

Any plans for something more central ?
All the Best

I'd be interested in anything in Lanarkshire and Dumfries isn't that far for me (provided I can get a day pass :D ).

Cheers,
Colin

From what the other guys have posted in the past the senior commanders of whichever army you're in will be hoping you can't get that pass.

Hi. I'd be interested in a BtLB one dayer anywhere within driving distance of East Anglia - Newark, Bedford, London.

We're always considering options Stuart. We have our Derby weekender coming up in October but that of course is a 2 dayer. We'll keep the discussion open because the 1 day format is good from a variety of angles.

I think the resurrection was a success 8)

Quatre Bras was a very exciting and full One Dayer. Plenty of action:

1. Tam's redemption of the reputation of Bijlandt's Brigade was a highlight.
2. Peter McCarroll's destruction of the Black Watch by the 6th Chasseurs a cheval was shocking and memorable.
3. Colin's failure to get the Garde Chasseurs a cheval to charge was equally shocking!
4.Good defence of Gemiancourt by Andy's garrison.
5. Bill Robertson MAY have moved furthest during the whole game.

Liked the venue too... we'll use it again

AND.....

I didn't need to phone DOB once to ask him about R2E!!!! :P

Thanks again to Barry and Bob for putting on an excellent one day event. A very good venue, ticked all the boxes. Enjoyed assaulting the village and later on to Tam's reaction to a very rapid redeployment by his Brigade to the rear rapidly followed by Wellington(Hurrah for 12 pounders). Looking forward to the next one.
Cheers

You may call it sarcasm........I, on the other hand, prefer to refer to it as a humorous observation!!! :-)

It certainly ticked all the right boxes for Tam. We had to stop 3 times for him to go for a pee!!
I thought that the venue was excellent, the game was excellent and the company was excellent.
Thoroughly enjoyed it!!
