Ebor miniatures new charging Horse

Post by eboracomb » Tue Jun 11, 2013 4:15 pm

At last our new charging horse are in our web-store eborminiatures.com
also our casualty figures are available, both sets were sculpted by Paul Hicks.
We are offering an army builder deal on the horse regiments of four 12 figure regiments for £100 saving £24.80p on the blister pack price.
cheers Nick

Very much ditto on the above. That deal is temptation incarnate! Those horses are the very same (EBob) that Warfare is using here, correct?

Now how to work your deal somewhere into my 1683-98 time frame, I am using your infantry for Bavarians (ie tricorne) of the era. I don't know that I can justifiably employ 48 tricorned cavalry in that time frame, could fudge the Carabineers in early...maybe some Saxons perhaps?

Cheers,

Michael

Don't think the horses are identical to those used by WM, although would be nice if they are similar size.

I would love some those cavalry for use as Russian Dragoons, but would want them without pistol holsters... :?

They are lovely figures the only down side for me is that I feel the trumpet is a bit small for the period, it looks more like a bugle to me.

I think they are suitable for French and Spanish horse by the look of it but am sure they could be used for other nations also.

Hi turrabear,
The figures can also be used for Dutch Horse as well as some regiments from Savoy and the German states.

Hmm, the crossbelts look decidely un-French to me, and the figures are also lacking the aiguillette almost universally worn by French troopers on the right shoulder.

But I understand that Paul and Nick have proper French cavalrymen in the pipeline - with hopefully some dragoons too as they are my favourite troop type.

Arthur, would be interested to know what the correct arrangement of the crossbelts for the French would be.

I was going by the fact that the figures have a cockade on the hat, a waist belt for the sword and crossbelts for the carbine and cartridge box. I thought that was correct for French cavalry.
Best wishes,
Simon

Hi Simon

Long story short, the cockade is fine for French troops, the crossbelts aren't. Maciek started a thread on cavalry accoutrements a few days ago and I meant to post a reply, but haven't had the time so far. I will do so tomorrow (with pictures), so all will be revealed then

Hi Nick

your Statement
as well as some regiments from Savoy
interests me, as I already have some Savoy regiments, but all of them are Front Rank.

How do they - in Terms of size etc - compete with Ebor ?

I really like these. I would also use them as French.

I wouldn't, for the reasons detailed in the link below :

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5022&p=32988#p32988

The crossbelts were no longer used by French cavalry after the 1680's..
