Which faction will YOU do?

Post by barr7430 » Sat Jan 25, 2014 9:46 am

We've already heard about Gerry's inventive Ayrshire Revenue Men faction being started. I myself (on a long plane journey yesterday) decided I was going to create a religious faction based on a Brotherhood of Fighting Friars all in robes with tonsures (there are plenty of models available and a few conversions will create something quite unique),,

So, what are you thinking chaps.....

From the conventional to the weird and whacky Donnybrook loves all ideas 8)

That would be very nice but not very likely! :D

I'll be doing Tangiers, I've got loads of Gripping Beast Moors already, so I'll just need some of Kirke's Lambs and some other bits and bobs for the English. I'm also going to try and get the other Rejects involved with a faction, you never know your luck???

I have an idea for a faction. Something that nobody expects.....

DA, DAA, DAAAAAAA

The Spanish Inquisition!

ok so its a bit before the period but would be great for comic relief, sorta like the Halflings in Bloodbowl. :)

Joe
p.s. I dont have the rules yet either.

Hey Joe,

I didn't see an order for the rules from you, have I missed something or did you place it with Bob at LRS?

Think I'm going for an Eastern European theme, Cossacks or Tartars.

Plenty of scope here, & some great figures from TAG.

My selections will be fairly tame as I am going for an Ireland theme, skirmishing back and forth around the Shannon... Two Army factions, Raparees, and Mobs fed up with BOTH Kings!

For something waaaay far afield, I am scratching out notes to use Donnybrook with my LotR minis. It's dead simple for the troops, but stranger things like Barrow Wights and Trolls take a little more work!

I will get mine from Bob. I still have a copy of the early play test version but will have the actual rules soon.

Barry,
Same here, I have a pre-order w/Bob at LRS. From the play testing I did, I already have a Cult, Army and Tribal (Moors) factions. I need another 12 figures for a European mob faction. That groups seems to eat up a lot of figures with them being raw. I just got my Old Glory order in that came with an ECW Peasant/Clubmen package...that should fit the bill:

Also if you look at Blue Moon sets for Swashbucklers, Rogues and Desperado's sets, they can easily fill the bill for Rappares, Highway men, etc.

I have just about commpleted a small unit of Swedish infantry for Snapphane type warfare in the Scanian War. I just need to find some suitable figures for Snapphane guerillas. Any opinions on using some of the Empress miniatures ECW musketeers without rests?

Thanks.

Apart from my Moors and Kirk's regiment for fighting in Tangiers I am also extending the rules into earlier and later periods. I already have two family factions for fighting the Border Reivers in the 1580's, the only rule mechanism I won't be using are the rules for bayonettes otherwise the rules will work as they stand. I also have Elizabethan troops for fighting in Ireland and to extend the period I have both sides for the Vendee revolt in the 1790's and the Royalist Whites will also move back a century and fight Kirk's regiment around the Monmouth rebellion. My Moors will be getting more Turk reinforcements and will be fighting Austrians, Bavarians, Saxons and Poles around Vienna in the 1680's and my Cossacks will fight with/against any side that takes their fancy.
Cheers

Hmm? I like the Vendee idea, or perhaps the 3 Musketeers??? they'd both fit it perfectly!!
Oh god my mind's wandering where I don't want it to go............what have you done to me, I swore I'd never do another 25mm period!!!
