We've always had our infantry 4 to a base. 3 x bases to a battallion.we just agreed that each base takes 6 hits or has a strength of 6. cavalry have always been in units of six. we've played a lot of games with no problems.

Dear All,

update on ULB. I took draft copies to SALUTE and talked a lot with various people about the best next step.

The good news is that I have been convinced to go to hard copy print in full colour :D
It may mean that some of the supplementary stuff such as uniform guides etc with come out as seperate publications but the rules will definitely make it out probably as a 40 page full colour doc.

Currently exploring exactly the route to take but yesterday was a very big step forward. Reactions from those who saw it were extremely positive indeed.

I will keep you posted.

Hi,
I also was at Salute yesterday, where I bought the new rulesset from Mark Sims.

These are rules for ancient and medieval wargames. Full color and 64 pages, but the most interesting part here is that they only cost £5.00! Which only proves that it doesn't have to be expensive to publish a new set of rules.

I don't know if you met Mark, but you can always contact him at crusaderminis@aol.com

Cheers,

Yeah, I saw them Wim! And I also have a fairly good idea what the per unit cost for production was so that in itself was a bit of an eye opener.

Pity I didn't know you were there it would have been nice to meet and say Hello!!

Barry,

Sorry its been a bit longer to come back with the info. But what sort of initial production run are you looking at? :? I have been suggested a cost of .50p per book at a 1000 copies. But I have still to confirm this.

I'm not sure if I have your email address to discuss further.

Best Regards

Mark

Wow! if that is the case it's the cheapest I've heard yet Mark. My contacts have told me that the cheapest I could expect on a 1,000 run is probably around the 2.50 per copy zone.. but hey if you know different, lead me to it! 8)

Hi Barry,

I have sent you an email to admin?

The price can be possibly realised as there is an established relationship with the company.

Look forward to your email.

Best Regards

Mark

I have returned to the period after a lull and noticed the messages regarding a printed copy of ULB which is great news as I have been searching for a set of good rules covering the period.

As a new member I am keen to get a copy of the rules as they stand as i presume the print odfthe new ones may take a few months. In saying this I accept the old ones will now be slightly out of date.

Thanks, Ed!

I am currently working on some pencil drawings for the interior, and possibly maps as well. I am looking into offering a limited number (hand signed and numbered) of prints of the cover painting on archival canvas. The painting was a departure for me as most of my previous work has been fantasy and sci-fi, but it was a lot of fun. I already have some thumbnail sketches for my next historical painting - the cover of the next LoA project (assuming ULB goes as expected) - Republic to Empire!
