This encounter battle had a slight difference. The aim for both sides is to control the ridge west of the village of Aarhaus(upper left of shot). The Yellow dots mark the objectives for both forces. The Red dot marks a secondary objective for the Germans to capture and the Blue dot a secondary objective for the British. Neither force could see each other at the beginning of the battle(so no artillery bombardments). Getting Observers onto the high ground was a real problem as they immediately became targets! The British appeared from the long table edge on the right of shot, the Germans from the left. The Scots Guards unleashed their attack first.
