Gary paid for Priority Air Support but the boys in blue were very seldom seen during the counterattack on Hill 91. Four Typhoons arrived over the battle and gave the Germans several nerve jangling moments.Spitfires prevented the arrival of some very rare Luftwaffe close support but in general, the British air cover was ineffectual in the extreme.
