Since I wrote The March of Eagles for VICTRIX the rules have received some very good feedback. They are currently free in VICTRIX boxed setes of plastic 28mm Napoleonic miniatures. The rules sit side by side with the forthcoming Republic to Empire. The big difference is that the The March of Eagles is designed for a 4-6 battlaion per side one hour to 90 minutes fun, fast play game. Units move alternately and there are 'character' models that have an influence on the game.
Many of the principles such as firing and combat are similar to R2E. This was not a master plan but developed as both rule sets developed.
The March of Eagles does not yet have published mechanisms for Cavalry or artillery but those are coming.
