Little question...

Post by Quealema » Tue Aug 11, 2009 8:27 pm

Hello, first i want to congratulate barry for his amazing napoleon's rules...
However, i have one question:

1° You name "rankers" soldiers in an unit, but the french voltigeurs and grenadiers are rankers or skirmishers ? I'm asking me this question because 20% of the unit is very low for elite compagnies...
If they are rankers, are they green, drilled or guards ?

Thanks for the answer and vive la France

Barry asked me to pass on the message that he is away with work at the moment and will post a reply when he gets back either Sunday or Monday.

When I was doing the original playtesting with Barry we were only using line troops so I can't answer your question regarding lights and grenadiers.

Cheers

Rankers include the elite companies of the battalion. There are no provisions in MoE to differentiate between the skill levels of various companies. Troop quality is a measure of the overall ability and training of the whole unit.

Thx for your replies...
If i take the exemple of the Victrix's scenario: how many elite compagnies minis a french regiment de ligne of 36 rankers may include ?

Thank you :)

Hi Quealema!

That is a very good question!! Highlanders are treated the same as ordinary British infantry in R2E. I am of course Scottish and would like to think that we are in some way superhuman  but please ask my wife.. she will tell you otherwise

Republic to Empire is written in a slightly different style and so I may consider making Highlanders a little different for The March of Eagles
The March of Eagles is of course not yet complete and Victrix have chosen not to release the Cavalry and Artillery sections of the rules with the boxes. All I can say is that I WILL finish The March of Eagles and it WILL be published but that is probably all I CAN say right now

Maybe i'll buy it ( R2E ) if i don't have to re base all my minis

Sure scottish should be great people since William Wallace's adventure :D

That is a bit rubish, one of the things that got me into this kind of gaming was the fact i had a set of rules i could use straight off, I was hoping this would expand as the different types of units were released. A little short sighted on there part me thinks.

This is great news that this fun set of rules will get a full set :P

Hard Rock,

I have not been asked to finish off the rules by Victrix yet. I know they had a lot on their plate in 2010 with a heavy release schedule. I have a very good working relationship with Julian and Steve so if they don't push it hard from theire side I may take the initiative and do a co-brand product via WORDTWISTER. Thanks for the interest., An email in their direction might help too
