Brigade command

We had a large multiple player LOGW game at the weekend and a question came up which isn't clearly mentioned in the rules.
If a Brigadier joins a unit to boost its morale then the other units in the brigade count as being out of command radius, even if the bridadier model is still physically still within 9". Should any of the remaining units in the brigade have to take a morale test they will count as being out of bridade command which would be a -1 on any test and any single unit actions would cost double points.
