Had a great time for my first full game. In nominal command of the allies along with Dave. Lots of ebb and flow to the game.

Definetley be back for more, and hopefully one of the 2 day games later in the year.

Thanks again to everyone.

Cheers

Bill.

Yup, another great battle and like virtually every one I have played with R2E it really ebbed and flowed with neither side able to take total control of the battle.

Thanks as always to Barry(a most neutral French umpire), and DOB (a similarly unbiased allied one) and also to the folks at Mutineer for the hopitality.

Looking forward to the photos,it was a good looking game.

Bob, I hope you got home OK without any major probs with the roadworks? I thought the game flowed really well and was played in the best spirit of wargaming and because of a couple of cancellations Barry and myself actually got to play. The game had a great balance to it and was in doubt right up to the end, there is nothing worse than taking part in a game where you know half way through that there is nothing you can do to alter the outcome. Even in the final move a couple of good dice rolls from either side could have altered the final outcome but the winning wasn't important, beating Barry was.

Most chivalrous Dave, good to see that your objectives were clear from the start.

I agree with you about the spirit of the game, its what these games are all about.Great to meet a new gamer who hopefully will become a regular at the weekenders, really enjoyed your company Bill, hope you got as much out of the game as I did, and also Paul Mac, who has seen the light and joined the Emperor in the quest for glory, great to be on the attack rather than skulking behind ridges & hills isn't it Paul.

Looking forward to Russia in February.

You're just saying that to be polite!
I bet you're already having nightmares about divisions of Russians priests and masses of grand batteries of Russian 12pdrs?

Thanks Bob, I have already 'told' the boss that I will be away for a weekend or maybe even 2 later in the year. There was mumbled agreement, but I'm sure it will cost me in some other way down the line :)

As for the game, it invigorated me to restart painting my Portguese, till about 2 in the morning :)

We will run some more of the one dayers at Whitburn and once Mutineer get their website running we'll be able to do booking via that too. The one dayer's will extend beyond R2E at some point to BLB and possbly some other rule systems and scenarios/collection associated with League of Augsburg/Wordtwister

cheers

Agree, some great shots of the game.

Although surely it should be the Retreat and Rout of the Guards? :)

Really captures the battle Barry, particularly like the highlanders shot.
