Thans Barry,
Had a good game today,
Had 3 Bavarian (raw) battalion & 2 field guns defending an earthwork position supported by 8 sqdns French horse, to assault & take the position the allies had 16 various allied foot battalions & 10 sqds cav (Aust.cuirr. & Dutch horse).
The French had a random chance for reinforcements (3 Swiss battalions & 1 Irish battalion) to be rolled for after the 5th turn.
Fortunately for the French the first 3 moves the allies only managed to move 25% of their units, which comprised of Danes & converged grenadiers who were manouvering to assault the earthworks.
Unfortunately for the Allies at the first chance the French player had to roll for the Swiss arrival was turn 6 (I needed to roll a 6 to get them) guess what, Lady Luck favoured me and a 6 was duly rolled and the Grenadiers who had just about managed to get themselves into a good position to assault what was then a very nervous Bavarian battalion, instead, found themselves facing 3 battalions of Swiss & 1 battalion of Irish, they just seemed to melt away after some very damaging volleys from the French reinforcements.
The next stage in the battle was going to be an assault on the earthworks with the 6 battalion Dutch brigade, unfortunately the clock struck 5 and time was called.
Another interesting and enjoyable game.
