Oxford Blues

Post by Duke of Baylen » Sun Apr 28, 2019 9:01 am

I thought it was going to be so simple. Uniform for Oxford Horse, The Blues, Horse Guards but I find I have less information than I need. These are for the reign of James II.

Hats lightish grey but what about the ribbon and the edging of the hats.

Tunics blue [of course] with red cuffs; breeches buff[?], gauntlets buff[?]

Sash red[?]

Belts and scabbards?

Shabraque? Monogram on shabraque?

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Coat blue, hat grey or sort of black with black feathers I think they had a lobster pot aswell and back and Brest plate, the hat maybe worn when not in action? Belts buff with a gold edging, breeches buff with black boots buttons gold, red saddle cloth with gold edges

Hope this helps
