I have for a long time fancied an Ottoman force in 25-30mm scale to provide alternative opposition to my SYW Austro-Hungarians. A part of the oft-shelved plans for this army has been to have a crack at sculpting some of the figures for myself and casting up some of the numberless Turkish hordes! Despite a certtified lack of talent when it comes to pushing modelling putty I had a crack at it and have just finished a quick paintjob on the first unit of cavalry.
The imminent prospect of comparison with Clib's sculpts for the period which are bound to be excellent is of course a bit daunting. At least I can say I got mine on the table first! (Also started first to be fair - around 2014!)
(Before anyone gets all hysterical about IP, let me make it quite clear that the horses are not cast by me but are Warlord 17th Century plastics that I in no way take any credit for.)

Good first(?) effort. FWIW, I'd say the riders look better than some of the horses! Keep the photos coming.
No plan survives the first contact with the dice.

Yes my painting is a great downward leveller in that respect

I think we are truly kindred spirits in that regard......

Some infantry conversions from Perry Zouaves (first base of three.)
The novelty of casting up my own components might have worn off by the time I finish this unit and paint up a Warfare Miniatures one to compare to it...

Cheers. I noticed we have both gone for the same flag for an early Ottoman unit. Green and yellow, what football team is that?

Norwich City (plus #1 fan and majority shareholder, Delia Smith).
